Jordan Food Assistance
In Jordan, United Hands Relief responds to the food requirements of 300 displaced refugee families every month in camps and communities through the provision of monthly food assistance in the form of large food parcels. Families reached by the UHR teams often have no means to purchase the basic essentials to survive.
Jordan is home to hundreds of thousands of refugees and is suffering from food insecurity. There are 665,834 Syrian refugees registered in Jordan and 88,984 registered non-Syrian refugees in Jordan. Organizations such as the World Food Program, UNRWA, and other international NGO’s have been working in Jordan for years providing aid to refugees, but with the increasing influx of displaced families over the past years, more relief organizations have stepped in to fill in the gap.
Now, more than ever, your support means everything. Millions of families around the world are struggling to overcome hunger and poverty. You can help families affected by COVID-19 in the communities we serve, and aid refugee families seeking safety. Make a tax-deductible donation today!
United Hands Relief offers free cataract surgery in Jordan to Syrian and Palestinian refugees, and to Jordanians who have no means to pay for the surgery.

$520 FOR 20/20 VISION
We aim to restore eyesight to 250 elderly people in different parts of Jordan. Doctors will perform the procedures on one or both eyes of the patients, depending on their need. The next day, patients vision will be examined, and they will be provided with glasses and given the medical care they need and lack.
The project’s goal is to wipe out preventable blindness in Jordan, where vulnerable communities are already struggling with displacement, poverty, illness and the spread of COVID-19.
In 2020, UHR has sent several medical missions to Ethiopia and Kenya to perform cataract surgeries on patients in need. With the support of our generous donors, UHR helped restore the gift of sight to some of the most underprivileged individuals improving their quality of life.
Our goal is to reach 1,000 patients by the end of 2021.
Udhiya/Qurbani 2020 – OUR IMPACT
When the month of Thul Hijjah comes around, United Hands Relief attentively carries out Udhiya/Qurbani on behalf of our donors, continuing the example of sacrifice and devotion set by Ibrahim (AS). It’s a legacy that was sealed by Muhammad (PBUH), who sacrificed two animals each Eid Al-Adha. When asked what Qurbani is, the Messenger (PBUH) answered, “It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
This year, despite the unprecedented hardship and restrictions that many of us faced due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic, our supporters provided a staggering 65,00 people with fresh, nutritious meat on the days of Eid. Your support has helped poor, hungry refugees stay fed and nourished at this special time of the year. Our Udhiya/Qurbani program benefited around 11 countries: Palestine, Jordan, Turkey, Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Yemen, and Egypt.
Palestine (Gaza & West Bank)
Almost 2 million Palestinians in Gaza don’t have enough food to eat and are facing hunger, malnutrition and the threat of COVID-19. During Eid Al Adha, your support helped us fight food insecurity in Palestine providing fresh Qurbani meat to 5,000 people in the Gaza Strip and 5,000 people in the West Bank. Each family received 2 kilograms of fresh meat.
Syrian Refugees (Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkish border)
Since the United Nations warned of an unprecedented food crisis in Syria, 6.5 million people are now struggling to feed themselves, particularly in Northern Syria. With your help, during Eid Al Adha, we managed to provide 800 Syrian refugees with 2 kgs of lamb for each family in Jordan, Lebanon and families sheltering on the Syrian-Turkish border. Our focus was on widows and orphans’ families.
Bangladesh (Rohingya Refugees)
Bangladesh is home to over one million Rohingya refugees who fled the violence and are living in overcrowded IDP camps. Your support helped us provide neglected and displaced refugees in the world’s largest refugee camps – COX’s Bazar with fresh meat during Eid al Adha. We were able to reach 800 families.
There are also over a million vulnerable Rohingya refugees still living in Bangladesh, the majority in camps that are overcrowded and neglected. You helped us to provide 6,000 people in Ibrahimpur, Brahmanbaria District, with nutritious beef, helping a total of 1,351 families to stay nourished during Dhul-Hijjah. If you donated your Qurbani in Bangladesh, you provided around 2 kilograms of fresh meat to 5 vulnerable families, including those whose livelihoods have been affected by floods and COVID-19, and families with widows, orphans, and disabled people.
A staggering 41 million people in Pakistan are undernourished. During Eid al-Adha, you helped us to fight hunger in Pakistan, providing 2,800 people with nutritious fresh meat.
Your support enabled us to fight hunger in Somalia during Eid Al Adha, where we managed to reach 200 families and provided them with fresh goat and cow meat.
In several provinces and villages of Egypt – in Cairo and Alexandria, we reached the poorest of the poor and provided shares of qurbani to 300 families. Each family received 2 kilograms of fresh lamb.
Almost 50 million people in overpopulated India live in extreme poverty and a quarter of the population are malnourished. As coronavirus spread across India, millions of families were forced out of work. With your support, during Thul Hijjah, we provided fresh nutritious meat to 800 families across India.
Ethiopia & Kenya
300 families in Kenya and 400 families in Ethiopia.
In response to the potential spread of the novel Coronavirus in the Gaza Strip and Jordan, United Hands Relief delivered 1,000 customized food parcels to families under quarantine, with a focus on people living in displacement and refugees camps.
Gaza is one of the most at risk cities in the world for an outbreak of the novel Coronavirus.
Thousands of vulnerable families live in cramped conditions with no access to clean water or proper sanitation, and are already facing crises like conflict and hunger. If the coronavirus reaches refugee camps, where people are already struggling with inadequate healthcare, poor hygiene and overcrowding, it will spread at an alarming rate and is likely to cause a devastating loss of life. For these communities, coronavirus could be a catastrophe.
There are a staggering 150 million orphans worldwide, and the numbers are only rising. Innocent orphans everywhere are vulnerable to poverty, hunger, disease and exploitation – like losing a parent isn’t hard enough!

During this blessed month of Ramadan – 2019, United Hands Relief is thankful to all our generous donors for the opportunity to help vulnerable families in various countries across the world. Many families are struggling to find food for breaking their fast, whether it be due to being in the midst of a war zone or experiencing drought, famine, natural or manmade disaster, etc.
UHR’s teams in Jordan distributed food aid, fresh meat, and gifts throughout Jordan during Ramadan helping vulnerable families. UHR ensured that the families receiving food packages will have enough food for the duration of the holy month.
The food packages included nutritious food items like lentils, rice, tuna, beans, vegetables, sugar, oils, dates, noodles, spaghetti, milk, chicken broth cubes, and more. One food package served five to seven people. Bigger families received two food packages.
Thank you for helping us save the lives of the less fortunate this Ramadan. Your donation made a lasting impact.
As winter unfolds, refugees across the Middle East will soon encounter freezing temperatures. In Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Rohingya. United Hands Relief is distributing essential items to help people brave this winter.
Children are particularly vulnerable. Many are surviving in tents or makeshift shelters with little infrastructure to support them. Children are sleeping on cold grounds wearing light clothing, which can lead to serious health risks.
Many refugee families are struggling to keep warm with few resources and job opportunities. The cost of keeping a home adequately heated during the colder months is beyond their means.
What can you do to help?
United Hands Relief is in Palestine, Jordan, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Rohingya, and Bangladesh arranging to provide emergency humanitarian aid to refugees before temperatures plummet this winter, preparing them for what could be a harsh season. Emergency provisions including food packages, fuel operated heaters, fuel, warm clothing kits, and blankets will be distributed to vulnerable families who rely completely on this support.
$25 provides a warm clothing kit for one person
$50 provides two blankets and a fuel powered heater
$100 provides an Emergency Food Package for one family
$150 provides warm clothing kits, a fuel powered heater, and blankets for one family
With your help, we can save the lives of many refugees and bring an end to the suffering of innocent children. Our goal is to reach 1,000 families. Act Now!

Udhiyah/Qurbani – 2018
Allah SWT says in Surat Al Hajj
“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him. Thus, He has subjected these animals to you so that you may glorify Allah for giving you guidance, and O’ Prophet, give good news to those who do good to others.” (Quran – 22:37)
